Supreme Court of TX eFiling Mandate


eFiling is mandatory for non-juvenile civil cases, pursuant to a Supreme Court of TX order dated December 11, 2012, according to the following schedule:


Appellate Courts

January 1, 2014 – eFiling mandatory in the Supreme Court of TX and all Courts of Appeal.


District, County, and Probate courts in counties with populations:

  • January 1, 2014 - Exceeding 500,000
  • July 1, 2014 - From 200,000 to 499,999
  • January 1, 2015 - From 100,000 to 199,999
  • July 15, 2015 - From 50,000 to 99,999
  • January 1, 2016 - From 20,000 to 49,999
  • July 1, 2016 - All others


Amendments to TRCP to Address eFiling and eService


The TX Supreme Court has released proposed amendments to the TRCP that address eFiling and eService.


eFiling and eService in TX has been conducted under Local Rules until now and will continue to do so until the revised TRCP containing the new amendments is released January 1, 2014.

State Case Filing Fees – effective September 1, 2013

(Pursuant to HB 2302)


Flat filing fees paid to the jurisdiction for filing in an action requiring a filing fee:

  • $20.00 – Appellate, district, county, or probate courts
  • $10.00 – justice courts
  • $5.00 – criminal courts payable upon conviction in district or county courts

No per filing fee will be charged by eFiling Manager but service providers may collect a fee for their services.
